Federal compliance and “safe water” are not synonyms.
A utility can pass every federal test and still deliver water you would not choose to drink if you saw the numbers. The Safe Drinking Water Act sets legal limits. Independent scientists — including the Environmental Working Group — set health-protective guidelines that are often much stricter. The difference between the two is sometimes the difference between “legal” and what a careful person would actually want in their home.
We use EPA and EWG data because they are the best independent sources we have. We translate what they report into something a homebuyer can actually use. And then, when it matters — when the home is bought, when the family is moving in, when the numbers raise an eyebrow — we test the water at the tap directly. A utility report is the starting frame. The decision gets made at the kitchen sink.
